#5 Two exhibitions, One flow

Art and culture can be considered as different. But art and culture are in many ways the same, they are actually two pieces of the same coin.

A few weeks ago, I discovered two exhibitions at the museum of art and decorations. The first exhibition is a temporary one. It’s quite new and is about art and the sport.

Fashion and art seem to be like two different topics, quite distinct and far away from the sport industries but it’s actually not true, not at all.Fashion helps develop concepts about the sport wear and equipment. Big houses like Channel and Hermès made gowns and swim suits with incredible fabric and made a refine designs.

It gave a new direction and opportunities, a new way to do sports, more classic and refine but also more optimized and practical.

In the second exhibition, I’ve discovered the main collection of the museum of art and decoration. We get to go back in time and see beautiful paintings and creations, from the 16th centre until the 19th Century.Innovative furniture and artwork are displayed to «dress up» a house. It’s incredible to see how much have been done in the past and how little we know about it. Most of the creation is “recycled” and applied to our contemporary time. It’s insane when you think about it. Creations aren’t what it used to be.

The inspirations are wild and rich, also multiple design are used from different countries and culture, which reminds me how much artist and experts created.Across our history we can see it, and now it’s even more obvious that they were ahead of their time. Even now, we only start to take a grasp of what we could do.

You know, I’ve been circling with the question of identity and history for such a long time, even now, and considering it, helps understand the importance of creation and experiment. And see how much has been done already, but they’re still a lot of questions through the process.Without considering our history, how can we evolve? How can we be better, do better? How can we transcend ourself? Those are the perpetual questions I’ve been thinking about it and It's a continuous evolution. The questions we ask ourselves are important, eluding them is only mirage or an illusion.

Finally, I don’t think we need to compare cultures or knowledge but we do need to think about the potential each of us has. We’re all unique, but blocking your mind and soul because of the lack of consideration or question is dangerous. Stopping our development because we label ourselves is the quiescence of insanity. I don’t have all the answer obviously, but I do want to help unlocking the questioning process of one person through my art. If one person, considerer their history and culture because of one of my artwork, I would be more than happy. And the funny thing is it’s a process of a lifetime, maybe it’s what’s make it soo appealing or maybe is it because the human kind master in this perpetual cross examination of its own existence.

Either way, be aware of the one who forget history he doesn’t know who he really is, be aware of the one who doesn’t consider the beauty of life, life is precious and each experience make you grow. Be aware of the one who doesn’t appreciate art, it can takes many shapes according to the soul who looks at it.
